Helpful Dr’s …..(Or Not)

So, today I went to my important GP appointment and I came out absolutely mad. I was waiting 20 minutes for my appointment ( and in my GP surgery that’s fine.) The doctor was not my regular Dr and was rather rude. He was a Locum GP and obviously just wanted to go home.

As I entered the room, he was smiling and asked how I was, which, if you look at my medical history is a funny question. An6yway, as soon as I mentioned to him that I had a few things to talk about, his whole demeanour changed. He was very hard faced and proceeded to ask me “what my first issue was.” in a very condescending tone. I explained that I wanted to change my Fibromyalgia clinic and he asked why I had chosen that one, I said because I had heard it was the best. After an eye roll he asked about my “second Illness” I explained to him that I knew my Endometriosis was coming back, he asked how I knew. Now everyone knows their own body, they know what is right and what feels wrong, I have suffered from Endo for 5 years now, so I have experience with what it feels like. I explained what I was feeling and he said: “Yes, that sounds like Endometriosis to me!” I don’t appreciate the condecention. I asked for a new prescription and left. This GP obviously has no experience when it comes to dealing with Chronic illness’.

I know that everyone deals with a GP like this at some point. I just feel like all GP’s should be more considerate!

That’s my rant over with, hope everyone is having a good Monday!

  1. Thank you for sharing this! Trying to live a normal life with a Chronic Illness can be challenging and well frustrating! It is truly amazing what we can learn to deal with in life and the strength we all have, that is sometimes hidden. I have been battling Multiple Sclerosis for 16 years now and it has had its ups and downs, but I try to hold on to my positive attitude. I started my blog 2 months ago and it has been a great experience. I have been able to communicate with so many wonderful and amazing people that really understand what I go through. I have set a goal for myself that I will achieve because I am stubborn and determined. I am going to one post every day for at least one month! I hope if you choose to follow my blog, you will enjoy! I look forward to reading more of your posts! Take care!!
